Series 731 of JR Hokkaido was a new suburban type electirc train introduced in 1997. As it is common with (10-499) Series Kiha 201 Diesel Train, it can be coupled with Series Kiha 201 as a train in operation. This can be seen mostly in the suburb of Sapporo on Hakodate Main- Line, Muroran Main-Line and Titose Line in the northern island of Japan, Hokkaido.
