Paleo Express is a steam locomotive train which runs in Chichibu region, that is easily accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area. The steam locomotive C58 363 had been kept in an elementary school in Saitama Prefecture after its retirement, but was renovated to pull the train in 1988 when the Saitama Expo was held. It is still operated mostly from March through November, every year, enjoying popularity. In 2000, the old passenger cars in the train were replaced with Series 12 passenger cars which were transferred from JR West and repainted in glossy dark green.
