The JNR Series Kiha 58 first appeared in 1961 as the standard rail diesel car for express trains and was eventually produced in a record quantity of 1,822 cars. The series were used in many parts of Japan and manufactured for so many years that various color-scheme and modified-mechanism versions were produced. The Kiha 58 is still used in mountainous regions in coupling with Kiha 65, a sister series equipped with powered-up motor and additional power supplies for air conditioning, etc.
We will make the series as newly modified N-scale precision models, furnished at the factory with head and tail lights (with turnoff switch).
