The OHA 35 is one of the models representing postwar passenger cars in Japan. More than 2,000 cars of this type have been produced, the largest production quantity for a Japanese passenger car. The prototype was initially developed in 1939, before the last World War, with slightly cut on four corners of the body, a rounded roof and 1-metre wide windows. When production resumed after the war, the car appeared in a form that could be clearly distinguished from the prewar model, reflecting the difficulty in procuring materials and progress in manufacturing method. The four corners of the body were still cut just like the prewar model, but the roof-top line was changed to just a straight line, different from the prewar model which roof-top line had been somewhat rounded at both ends of the car.
