Kato will now make an N-scale model of Series 189 which was operated as Limited Express gAzusah after inauguration of Nagano Shinkansen bullet train line. When limited express gAsamah was discontinued in 1997 on the conventional line, Series 189 used for gAsamah was transferred for gAzusah. Then the color scheme was changed for gAzusah and the top cars were exchanged with each other to make the 1st class green car and seat reservation car match those of the conventional gAzusah in terms of the position in the consist.

The train was operated on Chuo mainline as gKaijih, gKaiji Hotaru Matsuri (Firefly Festival)h or gExpress Alpsh as well as gAzusah.

Enjoy running limited express gAzusah with series 189 cars with large windows and those with small windows mixed. To say nothing of the full 11 car consist, 9 car consist can be also reproduced like the real trains.

The Express Train "Asama" - named after a local mountain - began operating between the Tokyo metropolis and Nagano with an upgraded exterior and interior in July, 1990. Its new exterior had dark green and gray horizontal lines painted on the light gray body with new logo marks and letterings.
The new appearance of the updated Series 189 "Asama" was popular since its debut, but when the Hokuriku-Shinkansen Bullet Train was put in operation to Nagano, the conventional express was taken over by the faster bullet train, even relinquishing the popular nickname "Asama" over to the latter.
