Shimabara Railways is a private railway company, which started its operation in 1911. The railway is not electrified and runs around 78.5 km, approximately 2/3 of the circumference on the Shimabara Peninsura in Kyushu, from Isahaya to Kazusa. The unique bold diagonal stripes on the body make this train very popular not only among local people but also with railway fans throughout Japan. Hobby Center Kato plans to release the N scale model under its Roundhouse brand.
